ΤΑ ΠΟΛΙΤΙΚΑ – Politics

In this country, political participation takes many forms.  One may vote.  Another may protest.  Still another might run for office.  Even sitting home and doing nothing is a form of participation in its own way.  For myself, I have voted in every election for which I have been eligible.  But apart from making some get-out-the-vote phone calls, voting has been the extent of my political participation.

Naturally, each individual must judge for themselves what manner of participation suits them best and likewise how much participation is enough.  I have considered, indeed continue to consider, a more active means of participation.  Yet I see, at the moment, no faction which I feel speaks for me.  Therefore, rather than add my voice to the chorus of a song which I care not to sing, I have decided to find my own muse, ὄϲϲαν ἱεῖϲαι – to cast forth my voice, as Hesiod likes to say – from the base of my own little Helikon.

In the coming weeks and months I expect to be running out a series of posts touching on various political themes and ideas.  At present, there is no overriding structure which will tie these posts together and no reason governing the order in which I will write them.  No doubt the affairs of a given day, week or month will have some influence.  As these posts accumulate, perhaps I will seek to order them in a more constructive arrangement.
